servant leadership
equip started today. well actually it started tuesday, but with the
whole "laser tag" thing we didn't have class.
today was so peaceful. that sounds completely cheesy, but it was.
i can't even tell you the last time i have been to morning prayer,
but i went today and it was so good.
class was awesome! we talked about serving.
the cool thing is that no matter how many messages you hear
about that one subject, it gets me every single time.
the biggest thing that got me was when she said
"no matter who we are over, we are always under someone"
that's a slap in the face. we can be so high and mighty at work
or in class because we're smarter, but that doesn't make us any different
to god. he might take that job position or wisdom and call us
to use it for his kingdom, but he doesn't care what the world says about us.
and leading by example got me bad.
i mean stop and think...
how often do i think only of myself and not others?
maybe i went to an outreach for 2 hours,
but what about the other 22?
i had to stop and think, what am i really doing to serve him?
anyways but i have to go to work and whatnot.
but really whoever you are reading this, stop and think about it..
WHY do you serve him?

showing god's love in a practical way
Last night I went to Enthralled. It was so smazing! We talked about leadership and how you prettymuch have to have a passion for what you want to do, or you won't like it. One girl (I think her name was Heather) said "How can you light someone else's candle if yours isn't even lit?" That has got to be the coolest and most honest thing. We always talk about how we want to tell people about him, but when it comes down to it fear sometimes takes over.
So, after I left, me and mom decide we wanted to go to Wal*Mart to go grocery shopping. Now, you have to realize, it was ten at night and it was all nasty outside. For some reason we just did. So, we go get all our stuff and then around an hour later we proceded to check out. This lady was working the register and after mom asked her a few questions started pouring out everything going on in her life. She just lost her grandmother that she was extremely close to, and she's graduating college next fall. Just things you don't talk to random people about.
We eventually paid and told her to have a good night and we headed towards the door. You could tell that was our window of oppertunity to do something. By the time we got to the car mom had the idea to invite her to pamper night next Monday. I grabbed an Our Life magazine and went back in. I found her and said that it sounds like she needs a night to herself and how our church was doing that. I told her that she had to register online, and how I had hoped to see her there.
God has called me to serve, and I once heard JP say that serving is simply "showing God's love in a practical way". That's how we are suppoast to serve. I can honestly say it was worth it seeing her face light up, seeing her get so excited about it, and recieving the massive hug she had in store for me. Sometimes we have to realize that it's not about us and what we want to do, but it's all about HIM.

and i really want to be a leader?...
If i only knew what i was getting myself into..
Today was my first day to recover from the lock-in with pathfinders,
even though it was saturday night.
deprive (v.)- to remove or withhold something from the enjoyment or possession of.
Sunday was a complete blurr, maybe because i was deprived of sleep.
It's amazing how much energy God can bless a bunch of children with.
